Born and raised in the UK, I graduated with an MEng Honours degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. With a strong academic record, I am well-grounded in the key elements of applied Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, and I understand the tools and techniques required to succeed in examinations and applications up to this level, including 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams.
I have experience tutoring international school students in science and mathematics according to the UK Curriculum in Hong Kong. Prior to that, I supported Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities in a school environment as part of The Flying Start Challenge, a competition for students in Year 7 to Year 9, where I taught the fundamentals of flight and assisted groups with their project work. I have taught in front of large classes and have also provided support to smaller groups.
Moreover, I have taught English as a foreign language to adults, where I prepared lesson materials, marked homework, and reviewed answers in class. The challenge was preparing material that catered to the different levels of English proficiency within the class.
I thoroughly enjoy motivating and sharing my knowledge in subjects that I am passionate about. I approach teaching by identifying and addressing gaps in students' knowledge, assessing their strengths and learning styles, and tailoring my teaching approach to meet their specific needs.
I strongly believe that developing essential soft skills at a young age through extra-curricular activities is especially significant when transitioning from a learning environment to the world of employment. In addition to my academic expertise, I can bring my own experiences inside and outside of the education system to the tutoring role, providing pastoral support. Read less

Using different methods and media to repeat a question relating to key concepts also helps the student memorise these. Read less
