I am a TEFL/TESOL certified professor with a PhD in Literature, and more than fifteen years of teaching experience. I was language instructor for more than five years and also have about five years of combined online working experience as a tutor, test scorer and college professor. Additionally, for the last six years, I have been an instructional coach and a professional development speaker for teachers of public and private schools.
My digital literacy skills are sharp and current, as I have focused on building, and keeping updated, the technological competencies needed to engage, motivate and educate the new generations of students. My teaching style is friendly, respectful, and result-oriented, which helps me establish a good rapport with students.
I am competent in Communicative Language Teaching, widely recognized as a most effective way of promoting authentic language acquisition. Also, I believe that to teach a foreign, or second language, one must keep a flexible stance when working the grammar of L2. I always strive to make my lessons amusing for the students and myself, since an instructor should model and promote a high-motivation learning environment. This is particularly true when teaching young children, so I favor using Total Physical Response to keep them engaged through the session and motivate them to keep coming to class. Read less
